This Martin D28 12-string guitar from 1976 stands out as one of the earliest 14-fret joint models crafted by Martin, a departure from the previous 12-fret joint designs before 1975.

Featuring a spruce top complemented by rosewood back and sides, this guitar is in superb, well-played condition, exhibiting signs of use but no signs of abuse. The instrument resonates with a truly remarkable sound quality that is sure to captivate any musician.

Equipped with in-line strip tuners, six on each side, instead of the individual tuners commonly seen on modern Martin 12-string guitars, this unique instrument also includes its original hardshell case.

Originally introduced by Martin in 1931, the D-28 has been celebrated for its powerful projection and exceptional tone quality. Early models were crafted with exotic tonewoods like Brazilian Rosewood, although this wood is now scarce due to deforestation and international regulations. The initial D-28 guitars also featured distinctive details like a "herringbone" pattern on the guitar top, a design element that was discontinued after 1946 due to post-World War II material constraints. Additionally, the fretboard inlays transitioned from elaborate "diamonds and squares" to a simpler dot style around the same period.
